3 Reasons Serviced Apartments Beat Hotels for Long Term Stays

Posted on: 3 November 2017

If you're planning a visit somewhere and expect to be staying for more than a week or two, you might want to consider looking for a serviced apartment instead of booking through a hotel. Serviced apartments are essentially just like regular apartments; however, you'll still enjoy most of the services provided by a hotel, including housekeeping, utilities, and usually a concierge to help you find your way around the city.

Here are just three reasons why it's a better set-up for long-term accommodation than a hotel.

1. You'll Save Money

You might assume that a serviced apartment would cost more than a basic hotel room, and, in some cases, you'd be right. If you're only booking for a night or two, a hotel room should end up cheaper. That said, serviced apartments are designed for longer visits, so their rates often drop the longer you stay. For long-term stays, you're likely to save over a hotel room. In fact, many serviced apartments will stipulate a minimum renting period.

2. You'll Have Your Own Kitchen

Another way you'll save money with a serviced apartment is by having your own kitchen. It's rare for hotels to provide a kitchen; if they do, it will usually be quite basic. If you can make your own meals instead of having to eat out all the time, your savings are going to be substantial over a longer visit. But this is a benefit that's about more than cost. Eating out is nice for a few days, but you'll eventually just want to kick back and make something simple. Additionally, it's usually easier to stay healthy when you're making your own food.

3. You'll Have More Space

Unless you fancy springing for a luxury suite, hotel rooms aren't usually very spacious. They're really about practicality, and most guests don't need much more than a bed and a shower. If you're going to be staying for more than a week or two, you'll enjoy having the added space of a serviced apartment. They feel homier, with separate living, dining, and eating areas preventing the space feeling too claustrophobic. This is especially beneficial if you're visiting for business; you'll want adequate space to work, and you'll also want the option to have people to your apartment for meetings. If you're visiting to see family, it's nice to have enough space to have them over—you'll feel a little cramped in a hotel room.

Enjoying Continental Europe

If you love to travel, you should check out continental Europe. The continent of Europe has some of the best pubs in the world. As an Australian, I like to have a drink now and again. However, while I thought that I was a seasoned drinker, nothing prepared me for my wonderful tour around Europe. As well as seeing some amazing sights, I also got to enjoy a pint in a traditional English pub, a glass of wine in a French bar and a large jug of German beer. I had the best time! I hope my blog inspires you to travel to Europe.
